The role of biomarkers, sleep apnea and echocardiography as predictors of atrial fibrillation in a pacemaker population

Some pacemakers are able detect periods apnea during the sleeping time obtaining respiratory disturbance index (RDI) sleep (SA), as well high rate episodes (AHREs) that also predictors AF. Another possible predictor AF is galectin-3, biomarker fibrotic phenomena. This study aims evaluate relationship between ARI and AHRE detection, size measured by echocardiography some biomarkers with development AHREs. Methods single-centre, prospective, non-randomized, descriptive carried out in tertiary hospital, including patients dual-chamber pacemaker SA, initially sinus rhythm. Patients were included at implantation date, November 2015 2018, medium follow-up was 2 years. Those previous diagnosis not included.
